Here you may apply for the Royal Historical Society's Postgraduate Research Support Grant.
The Royal Historical Society runs an active annual programme of research grants for historians at all career stages.
These awards include the Postgraduate Research Support Grant offering awards of £500 or £1,000 to support historians without access to research funding to visit archives, historical sites, and conduct interviews.
Applicants will be asked to confirm if the research project for which they are requesting funding, has cleared the applicant's institutions research ethics assessment process.
Applications for Postgraduate Research Support Grants are assessed in June and December of each year.
Please note the criteria for eligibility for this award, including current active membership. You will be asked to demonstrate your eligibility during the submission of your application.
The Royal Historical Society seeks to use its limited funds to make the greatest impact upon the historian community, by prioritising awards to those with greatest need. In making your application, you are encouraged to ensure you provide sufficient detail to enable those in the awarding panel to ascertain why access to these funds is necessary for you. Access to alternative funds will not invalidate your submission, but will contribute towards the assessment of your application and may result in an award of a different value being made if successful.
Please also note that an academic reference in support of your application is a requirement for consideration of this award and can be requested directly from within this portal.
Further information on all research support funding from the RHS can be found here: https://royalhistsoc.org/grants/.
