Here you may apply for the Royal Historical Society’s Postgraduate Research Support Grant.
The Royal Historical Society runs an active annual programme of research grants for historians at all career stages. These awards include the Postgraduate Research Support Grant, offering awards of either £500 or £1,000 to support postgraduate historians to undertake research activities such as visiting archives or historical sites, and conducting interviews.
With specific reference to this award, applicants must be postgraduate research students in a historical subject and current members of the Royal Historical Society. Applicants will also be asked to confirm that the research project for which funding is requested complies with any institutional research ethics requirements, where applicable.
Applications for Postgraduate Research Support Grants are assessed in June and December of each year.
Please note the criteria for eligibility for this award, including current active membership. You will be asked to demonstrate your eligibility during the submission of your application.
The Royal Historical Society seeks to use its limited funds to make the greatest possible impact within the historian community by prioritising support for applicants who would particularly benefit from access to these funds. You are encouraged to provide sufficient detail to help the awarding panel understand how this grant will support your research. Access to alternative sources of funding will not invalidate your application but may be taken into account during assessment and could result in an award of a different value being made if successful.
Please note that an academic reference in support of your application is required for consideration of this award and can be requested directly through this portal.
