Here you may apply for the Royal Historical Society's Early Career Fellowship Grants.
The Royal Historical Society runs an active annual programme of research grants for historians at all career stages.
These awards include the Early Career Fellowship Grants, offering funds of up to £2,000 to support career-building research or activities post-PhD.
Applications for Early Career Fellowships are assessed in March and September of each year.
With specific reference to this award, the Royal Historical Society considers an 'Early Career Researcher' to be within 5 years from submission of their final doctoral thesis. Allowance for periods of parental, carer or health related leave can be made (e.g. A researcher who submitted their PhD thesis 7 years ago, but has been on health related leave for 3 years, would be considered an Early Career Researcher in their 'fourth year' from submission). Please include additional information on this within the 'additional information' section of the form.
Please note that as applications are received throughout the year the specific deadline are published upon the respective page of the Society website below. Please use this information to schedule your application rather than the dates displayed within this application platform.
Please also note the criteria for eligibility for this award, including current active membership. Applications submitted not supported by current active membership will be disqualified.
You will be asked to provide an academic reference. These must be received before the application can be submitted. The applicant accepts full responsibility for ensuring said references have been received.
